Cancer New Moon at 2* Cancer 47" on Jun 23, 2017 8:30PM MST.
Every new moon, we are given a chance to cast off the old and rejuvenate before we take up the charge again. With the sun, moon and earth in perfect alignment, it is a liminal space of raw potentiality. The new moon occurs when it is at the same degree in the zodiac as the sun -- and when this happens, it represents the alignment of the conscious and the subconscious. Often times in our manifesting with the moon journey, we discover that the subconscious, or what is hidden, holds more power than we give credence to. It is important to start here at the new moon, the subconscious realms, though, just to get a feel for what might be ready to surface... June's Cancer New Moon has the potential for deep healing. The moon is in the sign of Cancer, making a conjunction to the sun, mercury and mars and an out of sign conjunction to Ceres. Here we have the meeting of the conscious mind (Sun) and the subconscious mind (Moon), the curious mind (Mercury) and our enthusiasm (Mars) creating a stellium of concentrated energy in the sign of the Mother, siding up next to Ceres (the Great Mother of the zodiac herself) on the cusp of Gemini. At first glance this feels very intellectual, centered around our "thoughts" about the Mother. But on closer examination of the aspects to the Moon, we see that we are being urged to go within the womb-like structures of psyche and examine what is lurking beneath the surface. This stellium happens to be making a square to Chiron in Pisces, which has huge potential for deep subconscious healing. Chiron in is the wounded healer and where we find Chiron in the chart is where we find our deepest, most painful -- often suppressed -- core wounds. This tense aspect between Chiron and the New Moon/ Ceres suggests the need to address the Mother Wound. Cancer is associated with the womb. And the womb, of course, is where we gestate in the amniotic fluids of creation, while the body prepares to be born. During this gestation period, not only is the body made manifest, but it is where we receive our earliest imprints from the physical world-- in the womb, we are awash in our mother's hormonal cocktails. If she is happy and secure, the imprints are likely positive. If she is unwell, fearful or insecure, the imprints are potentially damaging. Thus, it is in the womb that we receive our first energetic imprints of generational inheritance likely to be carried with us for eternity. Cancer, of course, is associated with the Mother, and our mother is our very first encounter with the concept of Goddess. The relationship we have with our mother serves as the initial template for the relationships cultivate with the Feminine Divine throughout life. More importantly, it serves as the template for how we ourselves get on in life and the relations we have with others throughout life. If your needs were not met in early childhood, this could have a lasting impact on you, and you may not even be conscious of the way it manifests in your life. This experience is known as the Mother Wound, an issue as prevalent as it is subversive. It is shrouded in shame and not often talked about because it is just too painful. The Mother Wound is generational wounding, the pain of the mother passed on to her children which manifests in dysfunctional coping mechanisms later in life, such as never feeling "good enough" and striving for perfection, unhealthy eating disorders or staying in dysfunctional relationships long after they have proven toxic. It creates the persistent feeling that something is wrong with you and if you could just figure out what it is, then you could "finally" be normal. It is the deep seated desire to be liked at any cost (usually the cost is your own integrity); it manifests in the notion that you can not speak your truth because if you do, you may be rejected. Cancer is symbolized by the crab, an animal that lives on the periphery of water and land. It has a tough exterior to protect its mushy insides from the harsh conditions of the physical world. Paradoxically, in the tenacious grip of the crab’s claws, Cancer has a hard time letting go of past hurts. The archetype of Cancer needs emotion to survive -- it is all about the emotional landscape, but it doesn't always know what to do with the emotions it has. With Chiron in square to the Cancer Moon, there is a tendency to want to fight the raw vulnerability of being exposed emotionally. The wounds are too painful and Cancer would rather just forget about them. Cancer, after all, seeks emotional comfort in all things. But if we continue to suppress these hurts, we bury what is special and unique about us. These wounds will continue to fester and in the end, we risk jeopardizing our own capacity to fully engage in life. Neptune is calling us out here, having gone retrograde in its rulership earlier in the month. Its as if Neptune went retrograde specifically to help us address these issues at this time. Neptune retrograde is an invitation to re-evaluate where maybe we have coddled our unhealthy coping mechanisms for too long. Neptune retrograde actually brings clarity to the places where we have deceived ourselves into believing "the kids are all right." Neptune Retrograde says, "stop trying to run from the pain. There is a strong potential for deep healing here and the potential to transcend this once and for all." Athena and Uranus conjunct in the sign of Aries are making a supportive sextile to the new moon stellium. Athena is our wisdom and She is a protectress of the vulnerable. She appears to show us a creative approach to healing, and next to Uranus, this is certainly an "outside of the box" process! The message here seems blatant-- that emotional fluency is a powerful source of wisdom. The healthy expression of emotions takes us farther in our healing journey than when we avoid them or stuff them. So, cry when you need to cry, scream when you are angry. Let's stop suppressing the emotions and learn how to navigate the emotional landscape during this new moon. For some, this may feel like a crushing new moon, especially if these points are aspected in your personal chart. But the energies are very supportive if you have the courage to confront your core wounds at this time. Finally, I think its important to note that while new moons are symbolic of a "reset" button, they also represent a portal of awakening. Lunar energetics work in cycles, so this new moon in cancer is an opening to the Cancer/ Capricorn polarity that will play out over the next six months. What surfaces during this new moon is likely to continue to make itself known over the next six months until the full moon in Cancer, where we will be ready to finally let go. While the themes of the new moon can be experienced on the global level, they may impact each of us differently on the individual level. To understand how these energies will manifest in your life, find the sign of cancer in your natal chart to see which house will be activated. You can create a free chart on my site here. If there are any planets or points in this area of your chart, these will likely be activated, too. If you would like to go even deeper into your own chart at this new moon, book a session with me! Until next time, I love you to the MOON and BACK ---see you on the blog!

I am a Cancer born 6/25. I feel as if you have described my life from birth to now. I have clarity in certain areas and I have been invited to join a women's group in dealing with the soul wound snd its ramifications. You continue to shed light on our broken parts. Thank you, Dawn.
