Chiron stations retrograde on July 1, 2017 at 28* Pisces where it will retrace its path to 24* through December 5, 2017. If you have planets or points on this degree, you will feel it. Likewise if you have planets or aspects to 28* of the mutable signs (Virgo, Gemini, Sagittarius), these areas of your chart will be activated and will be important for you to watch.
During this transit, Chiron is assisting us to re-examine our shadows. Chiron is the wounded healer, and where we find Chiron in our chart is the point at which we have to learn how to love ourselves, warts and all. Chiron was a centaur and renowned for his healing abilities -- though he could never heal himself... Chiron’s transit through Pisces is guiding us on a journey of healing the soul. When it goes retrograde and retraces its path through these points, it is having us reconsider what our healing needs are. Pisces is the sign of endings, and it is in Pisces that we bring closure to issues, resolve the unresolved. That we find compassion for what is unfinished and to dissolve our projections, reclaiming the power that we often give away as an unconscious defense mechanism. 28* Pisces is the location of the Fixed Star Scheat, which, according to ancient astrologers, was the second most dreaded malefic star after Algol (The Medusa Star.) Interestingly, Fixed Star Scheat is in the constellation of Pegasus, the winged horse and servant of the Gods who brought light to the world. Pegasus was the son of Poseidon and Medusa -- if you recall, Poseidon raped Medusa in the temple of Athena. Athena then turned Medusa into a Gorgon and then sent Perseus to slay her. It was during this act of violence that Pegasus was born, springing forth a fully grown winged horse from the blood of Medusa’s neck. But this tale comes from more ancient origins -- the Triple Goddess of Athena - Metis - Medusa. In order to understand the significance of this Chiron transit, we must get in touch with this story.
